Hey guys, I know you’re probably wondering where the Shark has been, and I’m here to bring you the news.
As of 9/10/11 it’s been officially two years since the first episode was posted. In those two years it’s been quite the roller coaster for Caldwell and me. In those two years both of us have moved to New York, Caldwell got a sick job at College Humor, I went from executive to lowly server and starving artist, and the both of us have won and lost art fights.
The podcast itself has gone through a ton of changes as well. In the first episode we announced that the Nightmare Shark would be focused on our own artistic endeavors and be primarily focused on the world of web comics. Between now and then the show has probably seen at least 7 formats, with various lengths, topics, levels of rambling, scriptedness, release schedules, and overall quality. Despite the relative lack of continuity, I can honestly say that the show got better every episode and season 4 has definitely been the ultimate maximum.
And although it was a heartbreaking decision for both of us, Caldwell and I have decided to go out on top.
The Shark has always been a labor of love. A chance for the both of us to vent our creativity in ways not allowed elsewhere, as well as a chance for two burrit-bros to get some burritos and hang out. We have had a great time, as I hope you all have had. Caldwell and I have both been given some amazing opportunities recently (I mean potential life changing stuff here), and it has become clear that we cannot take these opportunities while still providing you guys with the quality podcast you expect on any kind of consistent basis. We refuse to give the finheads anything but the best most hyper awesome.
That being said, there has not yet been a proper conclusion to season 4. Caldwell and I are planning a huge season finale episode the likes of which you’ve never seen. Who knows what could happen? One thing’s for sure, It will be a celebration of everything Nightmare Shark. As always, if you have something you want to see, let us know and we’ll try and throw it in there. This one is for you guys.
After that who knows. If we had a hyperbolic time chamber (ala DBZ), we’d still be giving you a weekly show. Time is the only issue. I will make no promises, that’s why I’m writing you guys this sad break up note, but if there is one thing I know, it’s that comic book heroes never really die. And who the hell do you think we are?
Thank you all so much for supporting us over the years. We’re not going anywhere, so if you want to yell at me because you’re furious that I’m doing this to you, you know where to find me. Also if you have any favorite Nightmare Shark memories, or really anything NMS related at all, I’d be happy to put those up on the blog (as long as they’re not sexy pics, those I’ll keep to myself). Together we can keep the Nightmare Shark alive.
Thanks again guys. We love you.
